Where are the controversies of this author?

[edit]

How come there is no mention in the article about the controversies this historian engendered when he covered history? He is arguably one of the most controversial and probably disliked historian by other historians of the 20th Century. To bring you up to speed, in his book, Inventing the Middle Ages, he criticized some of the leading historians of the 20th Century and their historiography from a very personal perspective. His strong criticisms of some of these historians engendered a significant backlash against his work, to the extent where his work was virtually discredited (almost as retaliation). Currently, this article without a fair coverage of that occurrence, is very misleading about his oeuvre. Especially, with historians where you normally don't think of heavy personal attacks, the controversies this man entailed and created are necessary to understand his work and his efforts, and the criticisms that came with it. They need to be included in this article to provide some balance to the presentment that is here. Regards... Stevenmitchell (talk) 09:47, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
